April 24, 2017 | In an event hosted by the Anaheim Innovative Mentoring Experience (AIME) and in partnership with Kaiser Permanente, high school juniors from Western High School’s Allied Health Academy were given an introductory orientation for the AIME events that will take place during the 2017-18 school year. The program will expose students to various departments within the health care field.
During the introductory event, students were able to interact with Kaiser Permanente professionals to gain a better understanding of the journey to becoming a professional and the skills required for future success in the students’ careers. Thank you to Kaiser Permanente and AUHSD’s AIME Program for hosting the Allied Health Academy students!
Congratulations to these ten high school juniors who were accepted to the Allied Health Academy and Anaheim Innovative Mentoring Experience (AIME) Summer Internship Program! These students went through an extensive application and interviewing process before being chosen among many students. For the AIME Summer Internship Program, these students will be placed in a health-focused site where they will work with experienced individuals in a professional environment to gain valuable skills and knowledge to use in their future careers. In addition, they will be awarded a $1,000 scholarship for completing this 7-week experience. This internship program is a partnership between the Anaheim Union High School District, OCAPICA, and Cal State Fullerton, and is funded by Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

March 2, 2017 | For this week’s workshop, Magnolia High School students were introduced to the physical therapy career where they gained a better understanding of the responsibilities and qualifications of the profession.
After the presentation, students were then able to apply some of the resistance band exercises physical therapists utilize on a daily basis. The exercises taught students how different exercises can be used to relieve pain in different areas of the body, such as in the knee or shoulder.
