April 24, 2017 | In an event hosted by the Anaheim Innovative Mentoring Experience (AIME) and in partnership with Kaiser Permanente, high school juniors from Western High School’s Allied Health Academy were given an introductory orientation for the AIME events that will take place during the 2017-18 school year. The program will expose students to various departments within the health care field.
During the introductory event, students were able to interact with Kaiser Permanente professionals to gain a better understanding of the journey to becoming a professional and the skills required for future success in the students’ careers. Thank you to Kaiser Permanente and AUHSD’s AIME Program for hosting the Allied Health Academy students!
On April 24, 2017, Magnolia High School students will be participating in an event hosted by Anaheim’s Innovative Mentoring Experience (AIME) program. In partnership with Kaiser Permanete, the AIME program is looking to empower students in the Anaheim Union High School District succeed in their future goals and aspirations.
The introductory meeting will provide students an overview of the program and for Kaiser Permanente professionals to interact with students applying for the summer program. For more details about the event, please refer to the flyers attached below!
For Magnolia High School, the Allied Health Academy has kicked off the 2016-17 school year strong! Since the start of the semester, students have participated in different activities and several highlights are listed below!
September 21, 2016 | In the “Introduction to Health Careers” workshop, students were introduced to different health-based careers and how to differentiate between professions. Through various fun activities, students were able to develop a stronger understanding of the different careers as well as the different health issues each career serves.
September 27, 2016 | For the first field trip of the school year, students traveled to Cal State Fullerton to learn about the diversity of health careers throughout the campus. The importance of education was stressed to students in hopes of aiding their college preparation.
October 6, 2016 | The “Cancer and the Environment” workshop allowed for students to understand how their surrounding environment contributes to cancer and their overall health. In addition, students learned about different habits they could avoid to lower their risk of cancer.
October 13, 2016 | For “Becoming an EMT”, students enhanced their knowledge of allied health careers with the exploration of emergency medical technicians. Besides understanding what an EMT actually is, students were also able to learn about the personal qualities people need to succeed in the profession.
As the rest of the school year is far from over, we are excited to continue providing students essential opportunities that will contribute to their futures!
Summer Program 2016
June 2, 2016 | HAPI-YEP and Allied Health Academy collaborated to bring students to St. Joseph Hospital. Students were guided through several units in the hospital, the cancer center, and the community clinics. Students got a chance to interact with registered nurses, emergency medical technicians, and the friendly hospital staff.
