The 2018 high school summer internship experience was made possible thanks to the partnerships between Anaheim Union High School District’s AIME (Anaheim Innovative Mentoring Experience) program, Kaiser Permanente, Fullerton College, California State University, Fullerton and OCAPICA.

Junior students who participated in OCAPICA’s Allied Health Academy during the 2017-18 academic year received the opportunity to apply and interview for the summer internship. A total of 10 students were selected for an internship placement at Kaiser Permamente. These students were required to complete a total of 180 hours and received a $1,000 stipend for completing the internship.

Throughout the summer, students went through a series of training workshops. Some of the topics that were covered include: professional development, personal identity, cultural background, social justice, and community engagement. OCAPICA students were assigned to complete an e-portfolio, weekly reflections, and a final project that summarized their experience.
