March 23, 2016 | The workshop was led by two CSUF undergraduate mentors who hold majors in Health Science and Psychology. Students received an introduction to health careers in the areas of counseling, occupational therapy, public health, social work, speech therapy, environmental health, and physical therapy.
The goal for this activity was for students to familiarize themselves with a variety of allied and other health occupations and the specific functions of each career.
In the Mix-and-Match activity above, the students were asked to match up the job descriptions to the appropriate career title. This helped students differentiate between various careers and exposed them to professions they have not heard of before.
Afterwards, students viewed a brief presentation, engaged in discussion, and researched two careers of interest. Students brought their research to their individual academic advising session.
